Baltimore Orioles clinch playoff spot but hope for more

The Baltimore Orioles have clinched a playoff spot but they are not going to start to celebrate. The Orioles are currently tied for first in the AL East with the Yankees.

With only three games left in the season the Orioles still have a shot to gain sole possession of the AL East. The Orioles have a little bit harder competition in facing the Tampa Bay Rays, as the Yankees face the Boston Red Sox.

The Red Sox will be throwing their aces at the Yankees in hopes to end their rivals playoff hopes. The way the season has gone for the Red Sox I would not be surprised if they have mentally checked out already.

The Orioles are hoping they did not beat up the Red Sox too badly. If the Orioles can keep the momentum going they should have no problem with the Rays. The Orioles have played everyone in the AL East extremely well, especially in the second half of the season.

If the Orioles do only end up with a one game playoff who do they send to the mound? It depends on who is rested, I would put money on Chris Tillman who has been lights out.
