Orioles sign Alvarez to a minor league deal

The Baltimore Orioles brought back one of their power hitters from last season Pedro Alvarez, the team announced today.  Alvarez will be coming back with a little bit of a twist, it is a minor league deal with incentives and he will be  an outfielder.

Caps Shattenkirk suspended two games

The newest Washington Capital Kevin Shattenkirk has been suspended for the next two games for charging.  Shattenkirk was penalitzed Saturday night for charging against the LA Kings.  No injuries occurred and Shattenkirk only received a minor penalty but he did leave his feet.  Shattenkirk leaped at Kings defenseman Kevin Gravel. Ravens sign Levin Sr. cut Webb

The Baltimore Ravens have continued to make roster moves today, they signed Anthony Levin Sr. to a three-year contract.  The Ravens have also cut veteran safety Lardarius Webb but are open to his return.  Cutting Webb makes a lot of sense since it saves the Ravens $5.5 million in salary cap money.

The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to terms with their most coveted free agent in nose tackle Brandon Williams.  The Ravens and Williams will have a five-year contract and that will reportedly make Williams one of if not the highest paid nose tackle in the league.

Ravens sign Jefferson, Woodhead and Mallet

The Baltimore Ravens had a busy day in the first day of the NFL free agency season.  The Ravens signed safety Tony Jefferson, running back Danny Woodhead, and resigned backup quarterback Ryan Mallet.  The Ravens also picked up the option for wide receiver Mike Wallace.

Ravens release Dumervil

The Baltimore Ravens have released outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil to free up some salary cap space.  Dumervil was set to have a high salary cap number but the Ravens are leaving the door open for Dumervil to return.  At 33 years old Dumervil has seen his production drop due to injuries.

The Baltimore Ravens announced today that they have released defensive backs CB Shareece Wright and FS Kendrick Lewis.  Wright and Lewis were veteran defensive backs that struggled last season.
