The hot Towson Tigers (5-1, 3-0 CAA) rattled off another victory this past Saturday against William & Mary (2-4, 1-2 CAA), taking them down by a score of 29-13. With a very large crowd thanks to it being family weekend, the fans got to witness the Tigers get off to their best start to a season since the team opened 6-0 to begin the 2013 campaign. Here are the highlights from the Towson Sports Network:
The Tigers also earned their first 4-game winning streak since the 2015 season. Let’s take a look at how the team graded out:
Offense: Compared to their past few games. The red hot offense moved the ball fairly consistently, but found trouble finishing off drives. Tom Flacco wasn’t amazing, but he did enough to get the job done. Flacco threw for 178 yards and 1 amazing touchdown that his receiver caught one handed in the corner of the end zone. Flacco was Towson’s leading rusher with over 100 yards. The Tigers also ripped off some long touchdown runs with their running backs.
Overall Grade: B
Defense: This unit is sneaky good. Even though the Offense is getting most of the praise, the defense has been great. They only gave up 7 total points, and allowed no points in the second half, to allow the Tigers to retake the lead after trailing 13-10 at the break. The Defense has been pretty solid through out most of the season.
Overall Grade: B+
Another Tiger win, another move up the Top-25 Poll’s. Towson has finally cracked the Top 15 in both national polls becoming #13 in the STATS FCS Poll and #14 in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Coaches Poll.
Up Next: Towson travels to Albany this coming Saturday.
