Sanchez and Adams start rally for Nationals in 5-3 victory against Braves

The Washington Nationals turned things around and beat the Atlanta Braves 5-3 tonight. Anibal Sanchez performed well both on the mound and at the plate and even started a rally to top the Braves and take the victory. Sanchez threw five innings and gave up six hits, three runs, and three walks and struck out only four. By all accounts, the bullpen (Wander Suero, Fernando Rodney, and Sean Doolittle) performed well in the mid-to-late innings, and Doolittle earned his 21st save.

In the fourth inning, Matt Adams hit a solo home run to tie the game 1-1. In the fifth, Trea Turner's RBI double scored Anibal Sanchez. Anthony Rendon hit an RBI single to score Turner, and Juan Soto's sharp RBI single scored Adam Eaton. Finally, in the ninth, Eaton hit an RBI single to score Turner and secure the 5-3 victory. And while this at-bat yielded no results, Sean Doolittle batted in the ninth and grounded into a double play.

Tomorrow, Joe Ross is expected to start against Kevin Gausman. Austin Voth has been scratched for an apparent shoulder injury, which could warrant a trip to the injured list. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET. Please note that tomorrow's game will be on ESPN for the Sunday Night Baseball game.
