Alex Cobb Pitches out of the Stretch to Strike out Eight Blue Jays in 4-3 Victory

Today, for the first time in his life, Alex Cobb pitched entirely out of the stretch in his second to last start before the start of the regular season. “I made a game-time decision,” said Cobb after pitching five innings, striking out eight against a Blue Jay split squad. Cobb stated that he had been thinking about it for a long time. Speaking to reporters after the game, Cobb inserted a littl humor into his experiment saying, “I knew there was no TV [coverage], so I’d just have to answer to you guys.” The decision by Cobb goes to show the new attitude around Hyde’s Orioles, an environment that may lead itself to more experimentation. Now the question becomes, will we see him use it in the regular season?

In other game news, Austin Hayes continued his hot spring hitting his team-high fifth home run breaking a 3-3 tie. Renato Nunez went 1-2 with an RBI and run scored. The Orioles take on the Yankees tomorrow at Ed Smith stadium at 1:05 P.M. The game will be televised on MASN.
