A great day in Baltimore sports history

The Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens playing meaningful games in October on the same day?  Say it ain’t so.  For the Orioles these games mean a little bit more as open their season versus the New York Yankees. Baltimore sports fans have a lot to cheer about today.

The Baltimore Ravens have already defeated the Kansas City Chiefs today, 9-6.  The Ravens looked a bit flat playing against the Chiefs, but earned a tough road win.  Next on the list for the Baltimore sports fans is opening game of the Orioles versus Yankees series.

For the first time since 1997 the Orioles are in the playoffs and have home games.  Jason Hammel returns to the Orioles tonight just in time to face the Yankees in game one.  Hammel is the Orioles ace who has missed a large portion of the season with a knee injury.

With the Ravens already winning and Camden Yards expected to be rocking this could be one of the greatest days in Baltimore sports history.  Sure the Orioles and Ravens have played on the same day before but the Orioles have always been so far out of a playoff spot that only the Ravens mattered.
