Kempny undergoes surgery to repair torn hamstring

Capitals defenseman, Michal Kempny, underwent surgery today to repair a torn left hamstring. After sustaining the injury a few weeks earlier against the Lightning, Kempny’s return was uncertain. He will be out 4-6 months and will miss the remainder of the season.

Kempny plays a very important role in the Capitals defense, as he plays alongside John Carlson. Kempny’s injury has allowed the Caps to recall Jonas Siegenthaler from Hershey to fulfill Kempny’s role while he recovers.
