#6 Michigan State Tops Maryland

The Terps jumped out to a big lead in the first half, leading the Spartans by 13 at the break.  That lead was quickly erased in the second half however, like usual, and Michigan State took down the Terrapins, 74-68.  Another heartbreaking loss to add to the rest of them, and Maryland’s chances are running out in hopes of an NCAA Tournament berth.

Kevin Huerter, again, stepped up for the Terrapins, leading Maryland with 17 points on the day.  Anthony Cowan Jr. and Darryl Morsell both finished with 12 points.  There is nothing else really to say, other than Maryland really needed this win and didn’t get it.  They’ve put themselves in an extremely difficult position and must finish the season almost perfectly.

Maryland falls to 4-6 in the Big Ten and 15-8 overall. The Terps have dropped five of the last seven games and will travel to Purdue on Wednesday. The Terrapins will take on top 25 ranked Michigan on February 24th, leaving the Boilermakers and Wolverines as their last chances at a signature win.  It’s not over yet, but Maryland must beat Purdue.  If not, they better take home the Big Ten crown to lace up those dancing shoes.

Maryland travels to Purdue on Wednesday on the BTN.  Tip is for 8:30pm.
