- Tonight, the Columbus Blue Jackets are in town. Columbus has had a stellar season, very similar to their hosts, the Capitals. Columbus has a nearly identical record as Washington, coming into tonight’s tilt with a 47-19-6 record.
Their spectacular and somewhat unexpected season has been a total group effort. Ranging from the resurgence of John Tortorella’s coaching, to Sergei Bobrovsky’s brilliant goaltending, to rookie Zach Werenski’s dazzling plays. Columbus has certainly been a fun team to watch, and will definitely be a team to keep an eye on down the stretch.
Washington’s key to victory tonight will be using the same gameplan that they used against Calgary on Tuesday night. Getting pucks on net, being aggressive on the forecheck, and to keep the pressure on them for a full 60 minutes, as this certainly has a playoff-feel to it. If the Capitals can do these things, coming out with a win can be expected.
