Caps Shattenkirk suspended two games

The newest Washington Capital Kevin Shattenkirk has been suspended for the next two games for charging.  Shattenkirk was penalitzed Saturday night for charging against the LA Kings.  No injuries occurred and Shattenkirk only received a minor penalty but he did leave his feet.  Shattenkirk leaped at Kings defenseman Kevin Gravel.

Here is the video from the NHL.

I do not think Shattenkirk had any intent to injure the opposing player but he did leave his feet which is a big no no in hockey.  Shattenkirk’s suspension comes at a bad time as the Caps are on a three-game losing streak and are struggling offensively.  The Caps will wrap up their west coast trip tonight.

Hopefully the Caps can snap out of their losing streak without Shattenkirk.  Nate Schmidt will likely replace Shattenkirk in the lineup.
