Since the start of the 2013 preseason the Washington Redskins have won all five preseason games 109-59. Evidently, the Redskins are a great preseason team.

After so much promise in the preseason in 2013, the regular season was a total disaster. Washington went on to win three regular season games by a combined 20 points.

To add salt to the wound, the St. Louis Rams received the Redskins second overall pick because of the trade the Redskins and Rams worked out so Washington could draft Robert Griffin III in the 2012 draft.

Here we go again?

The Washington Redskins dominated the first preseason game of the year against a formidable opponent in the New England Patriots.

With RGIII at the helm, Washington started off the game with a drive in which they ran the ball six times between Alfred Morris and Roy Helu. The Redskins went 35 yards in 4:50 to take a 3-0 lead.

RGIII’s day was done. He went 2-4, 9 yards passing, 0 touchdowns, 0 interceptions and ended with a 56.2 Quarterback Rating (known as QBR).

Kirk Cousin lead the Redskins on a 10 play, 60 yard drive that ended in him and Aldrick Robinson connecting on a 10 yard touchdown pass. The Redskins now lead 10-0 and never let up.

Kirk Cousins went 9-13, 103 yards passing, 1 touchdown, 0 interceptions and ended with a 118.4 QBR. However, Patriots third string QB Jimmy Garoppolo was the games top passer. Garoppolo went 9-13, 157 yards passing, 1 touchdown, 0 interceptions and ended with a QBR rating of 135.7.

Today was Garoppolo’s FIRST NFL game, playing or attending. You read that right. He has never attended an NFL game in his life before tonights start. His family was in attendance at Fed Ex Field.

Kai Forbath, who is very much competing for a position on the Redskins this preseason, did not fare so well tonight. Forbath went 1-2 in field goals, hitting a 39 yard field goal to finish of the Redskins first drive and then missed a 46 yard field goal in the second quarter. He also had a kickoff in the third quarter that went out of bounds.

Patriots QB Tom Brady did not start tonights preseason game in favor of Ryan Mallett. Redskins DeSean Jackson, Ryan Clark, and Tracy Porter did not suit up.
