Ravens report card versus the 49ers: The Offense

The Baltimore Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers .. to .. in a blowout.  The starters only played a little over a series but we got to see a glimpse of Gary Kubiak’s offense led by Joe Flacco.   Let’s get to the report card.

Quarterbacks: Flacco only played a series but he shined in that series.  Flacco went four for five for 52 yards.  Tyrod Taylor also played well and looked sharp minus his interception.   Taylor went 13 for 21 with a touchdown and an interception.  Taylor threw for 116 yards and 59 yards.  Grade B+

Running Backs: The Ravens running backs ran hard and powerful and the Ravens averaged 4.9 yards per carry.  Lorenzo Taliaferro was very impressive running hard for 71 yards and a 5.5 yard per carry average.  Bernard Pierce also ran well and scored a touchdown.  Ray Rice only had three carries and ran for 17 yards.  Justin Forsett had a fumble but looked good otherwise.  Grade B+

Receivers: Kamar Aiken who has stood out in training camp was the only Ravens receiver to really stand out.  Aiken had four receptions for 49 yards. Steve Smith Sr. had a good reception on the Ravens opening drive and Jeremy Butler had the touchdown reception from Taylor.  The receivers really shared playing time.  Grade B

Offensive Line: The offensive line is hard to judge in the preseason because so many backups started to play early.  They allowed three total sacks but looked much improved in the running game from last year.  Grade B

Overall: A very good first game for the Ravens.  I will be excited to see more from the first team but the offense looked much improved from top to bottom from last season.  Grade B+
